These terms govern the ControllerKeys Creator Program (the "Program"), run by Kevin Tang ("I"/"me") for ControllerKeys, a macOS app distributed on Gumroad. Joining the Program means you agree to these terms. This is a paid marketing arrangement (compensation for creating content), not a contest, sweepstakes, or prize draw—no purchase is ever required to join or earn.
1. Who can join
- You create content (video, streaming, written) for an audience of your own.
- You're 18+ (or the age of majority where you live) and can receive payment via Gumroad.
- The Program is invite-only: you apply, and I approve creators individually. Applying does not guarantee acceptance, and I may decline or remove anyone at my discretion.
2. How to join
- Apply by email (martini-doubler7g@icloud.com) or via the ControllerKeys Discord, with your channel/profile, roughly who your audience is, and a one-line video idea.
- If accepted, I provide: a free lifetime ControllerKeys license, a personal Gumroad affiliate link, an optional audience discount code, and a press kit.
- You may start earning affiliate commission from your link immediately; the license and future-app benefits vest when you ship a qualifying video (Section 4).
3. What you get
- Free lifetime license. A no-cost ControllerKeys license, yours to keep, granted for shipping one qualifying video. No purchase necessary.
- Affiliate commission — 50%. Your personal Gumroad affiliate link pays you 50% of each sale it drives, on an ongoing basis, for real completed purchases. Commission is calculated and paid by Gumroad under Gumroad's affiliate terms. Refunded, disputed, charged-back, fraudulent, or self-referred purchases do not earn commission (or are clawed back if already paid).
- Free future apps. After you ship a qualifying video, you're enrolled to receive my future app releases at no cost, for as long as the Program and those apps exist.
- Reach bonuses. On top of affiliate commission, verified YouTube views on your qualifying video earn one-time cash bonuses: $25 at 5,000 views, $75 at 25,000, $200 at 100,000. Bonuses are per video, paid once per milestone. YouTube is the default platform; other platforms may qualify by prior agreement.
4. What counts as a "qualifying video"
All of the following must be true:
- It genuinely features ControllerKeys in use (not a passing mention).
- It names the app and includes your affiliate link in the description or equivalent.
- It is public and remains public for at least 30 days.
- It contains a clear disclosure of the paid/affiliate relationship (Section 5).
- Its views are organic. Purchased, incentivized, or bot-generated views disqualify the video from bonuses and may end your participation.
I confirm whether a given video qualifies. Honest opinions—including criticism—are welcome and never disqualifying; I do not require positive coverage or script approval.
5. Required disclosure
You must clearly disclose that you have a material connection to ControllerKeys (e.g., "#ad," "sponsored," "I'm a ControllerKeys affiliate / I earn a commission," or "I got a free license"), in a way a viewer will notice, consistent with FTC guidance and any platform rules. This protects you and me. Non-disclosure disqualifies the video and may end participation.
6. View verification & anti-fraud
- For milestone bonuses, you agree to share reasonable proof of views—typically a screenshot of your own analytics showing view count, audience retention, and traffic sources.
- I may withhold or reverse any payout tied to views or sales I reasonably believe to be inflated, fake, incentivized, or otherwise fraudulent.
- Total bonus payouts under the Program may be capped; if a cap applies, I'll say so in writing when you join.
7. Payouts & taxes
- Affiliate commission is paid by Gumroad on Gumroad's schedule and methods; you're responsible for maintaining a valid Gumroad payout setup.
- Milestone bonuses are paid by me directly after verification, by a mutually workable method.
- You are responsible for any taxes on what you earn. U.S. creators paid $600 or more in a calendar year may be asked to provide a W-9 and will receive a 1099; Gumroad handles reporting for affiliate commission it pays.
8. Conduct
Don't misrepresent ControllerKeys or your relationship to it; don't spam, buy views/clicks, self-refer, use deceptive discount/coupon tactics, cookie-stuff, or bid on ControllerKeys/Kevin Tang trademark terms in paid search; don't associate the app with unlawful, hateful, or misleading content. Follow each platform's own rules.
9. Trademarks & content
You may use the ControllerKeys name and provided assets solely to promote the app under this Program. I may reshare, quote, or feature your content (with credit) to promote ControllerKeys; you keep ownership of your content.
10. Changes, termination, relationship
- I may update these terms or end the Program at any time; material changes will be posted with a new "last updated" date. Affiliate commission already earned on completed, non-reversed sales will still be paid.
- Either of us can leave the Program at any time. On removal for cause (fraud, non-disclosure, abuse), unpaid or pending bonuses may be forfeited.
- You participate as an independent party, not an employee, agent, or partner of mine, and nothing here creates such a relationship.
11. No warranty / liability
The Program and any materials are provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law, I'm not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the Program. Gumroad's services are governed by Gumroad's own terms.
