Short Version

Fortepiano collects nothing. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics, no third-party SDKs, and no servers. The app has no network features at all — nothing you play or record ever leaves your Mac unless you export a file and share it yourself.

What Fortepiano stores

  • Your settings — selected instrument, octave, touch, key-label preferences, and MIDI export tempo — in standard on-device storage.
  • Recordings ("takes") are kept temporarily on your Mac for the current session so you can play them back and export them. Files you export (MIDI, WAV, M4A) are saved where you choose and belong entirely to you.

The developer has no servers and no access to any of this.

Purchases

Fortepiano Pro is a one-time in-app purchase processed entirely by Apple. The app only learns whether the unlock has been purchased — never your name, payment details, or Apple ID.

Microphone & recording

Fortepiano does not use the microphone. "Recording" in Fortepiano means capturing the notes you play and the app's own audio output — it never listens to anything.
